Introducing our Düsseldorf team

by | May 2, 2011 | 2011 ESC General, escgo at Eurovision, Uncategorized

#esc has a two-man blogging team covering the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf.

Some of you might already know who we are from the Chat or other occasions, but we didn’t have the chance yet to introduce ourselves properly on this site.

With that in mind, we thought that our first days of rehearsal blogging would be a good opportunity to do exactly that!

As a half-Swedish Brit who used to live in Germany, I was probably destined to become an ESC fan. I’ve been a Eurovision chatter, forum poster, fan clubber, mailing lister and blogger for longer than I’d care to remember! Despite this life sentence, Düsseldorf will be “only” my fifth live ESC after 1998, 2000, 2003 and 2008 (and my very first with accreditation).

The fetching (self-)photo to the left is a hungover and sleep-deprived version of me in the comfortable lounge area at this year’s press centre, waiting for the first double espresso of the day to kick in.

It’s probably a good thing I’ll be typing my blog posts rather than speaking them, otherwise you might accidentally think that Tom Waits was one of our correspondents.

Hallihallo! I’m a german fan who’s been in the (predecessor-) chat since the year 2000. Oslo was my 3rd Eurovision (and my 1st with accreditation). I’ll go to Düsseldorf later the week – without accreditation – but still  blogging for esc-chat.com to bring Eurovision a bit closer to you.

I’m well known for my bad taste (whoelse had O Julissi as pre-contest-favourite!?) and my passion for food.

On the photo you can see me here in my little but very official press centre in Berlin, for the days before I head to Cologne first and then D’dorf! And yes I am doing a “Eurovision in food” combining the hosts of last and this year in the form of norwegian salmon and german Sekt (kind of champagne), celebrating the New Year’s day of the Eurovisionists!

Btw, the tray might look familiar to you. And no, I didn’t steal it from the press centre last year. I found it in some random scandinavian furniture store afterwards… sorry, got distracted, the salmon “swam” on my macbook which is not good. Gotta fix that problem. Later for now.
