Semi-final 2: Qualifiers and final draw!

by | May 25, 2012 | 2012 ESC General, Uncategorized

Tonight saw the second semi-final of the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in Baku, Azerbaijan. It was arguably a harder semi to call than the first one, resulting in a few fairly major casualties – most notably, the feared Balkan domination failed to materialise, with Croatia and Slovenia failing to reach the final. Instead, the likes of Macedonia and Malta reached Saturday night for the first time in a few years, while Lithuania caught out a number of bloggers and predictors too. Turkey took the final “golden envelope” this time, much to the joy of the local audience.

Shortly after the show, a joint press conference was held at the ESC press centre where, among other things, the artists drew their starting positions for the grand final on Saturday night. These are as follows:

4 Lithuania
5 Bosnia & Herzegovina
11 Estonia
12 Norway
17 Sweden
18 Turkey
21 Malta
22 Macedonia
24 Serbia
25 Ukraine

The final line-up is therefore complete. We’ll provide more reaction, analysis and betting information tomorrow and on Saturday!
