Now that our own ChatVote is complete, we’re turning our attention to a bigger collaborative project: Eurostream 2020!

Following the cancellation of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest due to the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak, several major Eurovision websites have joined forces to organise the first ever 100% online edition of the Contest – and escgo! and the #esc chat are delighted to be playing our own little part in proceedings by banging the drum for the event and, of course, live-watching and voting along with the shows in our chat community.

Under the joint name Eurostream 2020, three scheduled live shows will be broadcast online for viewers around the world. The Semi-Finals will take place on Tuesday 5 and Thursday 7 May, starting at 21:00 CET. The votes of national juries consisting of music professionals (50%) and online public voting (50%) will determine which ten countries progress from each Semi-Final and join the “big five” and the Netherlands in the Grand Final of Eurostream 2020, to be held on Saturday 9 May at 21:00 CET.

During the live shows, snippets of the official preview videos will be shown and editors from several Eurovision websites will be joining via live stream to comment on the songs and their chances. If you want to know more about how it will all work, check out the FAQ at!

The running order draws for Semi-Final 1 and Semi-Final 2 have already taken place, and we’re looking forward to welcoming you to the #esc chat on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday of next week as we support this fan-led initiative, which will also be a nice accompaniment and warm-up for the officlal “replacement shows” that will air during what would have been ESC week. See you in the chat – and good luck to the Eurostream team!

"Same Heart" klaxon for Azerbaijan...?

We think what they're doing is broadly right, but being filmed from waaaaaay too far away!

Better framing please - our liveblog continues:

Perhaps not the strongest section of the draw: Eden sings really nicely by the second run-through but the visual staging is Israel-by-numbers, whereas ROXEN hasn't got to the "singing really nicely" part yet...

And now Shi is back on duty for the last stint of the day, from Israel through to a Ukraine rehearsal that will involve a stand-in lead singer. These are interesting times...

Felix's verdict on Hooverphonic's rehearsals today: Some stylish visual choices, but is it enough to make the song accessible enough for a wider audience?
