ESC 1980 – The Participants

ESC 1980 – The Participants

19 countries took part in the 1980 Eurovision Song Contest.

Monaco withdrew from the competition and would not return again until the mid-2000s, while the previous year’s winner, Israel, took a shorter one-year break due to a national remembrance day – and hence did not host the contest. Meanwhile, Turkey returned after a one-year break of its own, and Morocco added an exotic touch with its debut entry.

The 25th Eurovision Song Contest was held at the Congresgebouw in The Hague, Netherlands, on 19 April 1980.
