Chat Awards 2017: Your chance to crown your favourites

by | Dec 16, 2017 | Eurovision

The escgo! Chat Awards 2017 are launched!

Over the past four years, this annual event has become a favourite tradition in our #esc chat, giving us a chance to look back on the Eurovision year gone by and welcome the new season.

This year, the Chat Awards ceremony will be held in the immediate run-up to the final of Festivali i Këngës on Saturday 23 December, i.e. in the hour or so before the show begins (exact timing to be announced!).

Nominations for this year’s awards are now open (see below), and we also invite you to join us in the chat on Sunday 17 December for an informal refresher as we watch some of our favourite moments from the 2017 on-season together. You can then submit your nominations to us directly in the chat via private message – or simply send us an e-mail as usual. Either way, nominations close at 23:59 CET on Friday 22 December.

Join in and help us to answer questions such as: Which entry had the most stunning staging at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest? What was the most notable cult moment or performance? Who was the best singer in Kyiv? We will soon find out!

How to nominate
You can submit 2 (two) candidates in each of the following categories by sending an email to vote@escgo.com or sending your nominations by private message to FelixK or MartinF in the chat. You don’t have to nominate in all of the categories, just as many or as few as you want! The categories are:

  • Best national final of the 2017 season
  • Best official preview video for an ESC 2017 song (must be the video as listed on eurovision.tv)
  • Best outfit worn at ESC 2017
  • Best staging at ESC 2017
  • Best solo artist at ESC 2017
  • Best band or other non-solo artist at ESC 2017
  • Best song at ESC 2017
  • #esc cult of the year (you can suggest anything that’s made us laugh in the chatroom, from ridiculous national final performances to amazing YT clips we discovered this year – it doesn’t have to be ESC-related or from 2017)
  • Hottest entrant in a national final or at Eurovision

Once the nomination lines are closed, we will take a look at the results and pick the most popular choices from each category. These will be the final nominees for the polls to be held in the chat before FiK on Saturday 23 December.

If time allows, we will also be taking a quick look back at the 2017 edition of SongHunt and seeing if our chatters still agree with the final results of the public vote back in May – but more about that later!

So send us your nominations by e-mail or in the chat when you’re ready – and we hope to see you in the chat for a fun evening of video-watching on Sunday 17 December and, in particular, for the Chat Awards themselves in the run-up to the Festivali i Këngës final on Saturday 23 December!
