We have now heard 41 of the 42 entries for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest!
Tonight, Belgium, having already internally selected 17-year-old singer Iris to represent them in Baku in May, asked the television audience to choose between two songs for her to sing – and, by a narrow margin of 53% to 47%, they voted in favour of “Would You?”
A short presentation of the songs earlier in the evening was followed by the announcement of the results in the Vrienden Van de Veire talk show. Iris will perform her song in the first half of the first semi-final on Tuesday 22 May.
This means that the only country left to reveal its song for Baku is the United Kingdom. Engelbert Humperdinck’s entry will be premiered on BBC Radio 2 on Monday morning and will be made available on the BBC’s Eurovision site shortly afterwards.
