After the victory of Lena in Oslo and being host of Eurovision 2011 in home country Germany, Stefan Raab decided to quit his ESC career, according to German news site bild.de.
“The Eurovision Song Contest final 2011 in Germany”, as Raab said, “was the absolute highlight of my ESC career.” ”
I have decided to give away the artistic and contentual responsibility for the german participation. So I won’t be contributing as host, jury president, composer or music producer anymore in the future.”
The responsible broadcaster in Germany, NDR/ARD, will decide in the upcoming weeks on the format of the next german preselection. It’s still unclear if the “Unser Star für …” format will be kept.
Raab added that he will continue to support and promote the idea of Eurovision in his shows in the future.
Stefan Raab wrote the German entries in 1998, 2000 and 2004 and was the German entrant in 2000. His biggest success was – as her producer and discoverer – Lena’s victory in 2010.
