Saturday semi round-up: Out of MF goes a ’99 hero

by | Feb 25, 2012 | Uncategorized

Saturday night saw further semi-finals in Sweden, Lithuania and Estonia, as the trio of northern countries continued to whittle down the field in the search for an entry for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest.

The biggest surprise of the night arguably came in Sweden, where 1999 ESC winner (and 2008 ESC non-winner) Charlotte Perrelli finished in a disappointing 5th place, thereby failing to qualify even for the “Second Chance” round next weekend.

Meanwhile, another former Eurovision act, Malcolm Lincoln, missed out on the final in Estonia – but that one was probably less of a shock.

And in Lithuania, hotly-tipped Donny Montell qualified with ease, achieving the maximum jury score in the process. We’ll see whether he lives up to his favourite status in the final!
