This Wednesday night, Russia becomes the latest country to select its entry for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
This year’s Russian finalists include a duet between 2008 ESC winner Dima Bilan and 2003 ESC near-winner Yulia Volkova (of t.A.T.u. fame). However, fan sentiment appears to be with the ladies of Buranovskiye Babushki, making their second attempt to reach the European stage.
The winner will be determined by a mixture of televoting and jury votes. Russia will perform in the second half of the first semi-final on Tuesday 22 May.
