Manic Woman to join Jedward in Baku

by | Apr 1, 2012 | Eurovision, Uncategorized

In a sensational move aimed at helping them to emulate their top 10 success in Düsseldorf, twins John and Edward Grimes – better known as Jedward – today revealed the secret weapon they will be taking with them to next month’s Eurovision Song Contest.

When they hit the stage in Baku on Tuesday 22 May, the Irish twosome will be joined on stage by none other than ESC 1971 legend and internet sensation Manic Woman.

Despite racking up almost 200,000 YouTube hits, the identity of Manic Woman was previously a mystery. However, a Today FM radio campaign spearheaded by morning DJ Ray D’Arcy successfully tracked her down to a Donnybrook retirement home, where the twins personally requested her presence in Azerbaijan.

Manic Woman, real name Doireann Ó Súilleabháin, described herself as “frozen and speechless” at the invitation to join the energic duo on stage.

Precise details of the routine are still unknown, but Jedward themselves commented on Twitter: “This is going to be so cool and there’ll be like tons of clapping, well at least seven claps anyway so it’ll be like awesome. I’m JOHN and I’m EDWARD and she’s MANIC WOMAN and we’re JEDWARD AND MANIC WOMAN”.

You can see Manic Woman’s most famous TV appearance – until next month, of course! – below:
