Chat Charts – Launch 2014

by | Mar 19, 2014 | Uncategorized

Just like the website, the Chat Charts are back as well!

If you just want to vote, just scroll all the way down to the poll and pick up to three favourites.

But you might also want to read the details, so here we go!

From now until December we will run our own charts for 2014 – with our own favourites from the Eurovision season.
Due to the long break that the website had, we are doing things a bit differently to last year’s Chat Charts:

  • This year, we’re running the charts not on a weekly, but on a monthly basis.
  • Each edition has fifteen, instead of ten songs.
  • The upcoming editions will see five new entries / five dropping out, instead of three each.
  • Only songs from the 2014 national final season will be accepted (this includes national finals that took place wholly or partially at the end of 2013).
  • Only songs that didn’t win their national final will be accepted.
  • Only one song can be suggested per person and per month.

If you’d like to take part in the Chat Charts, you can do one or all of the following:

  • Submit a song suggestion according to the above rules by email to vote@esc-chat.com

The deadline for each suggestion round is the 20th of each month. For example, songs that you submit before or on 20th April will be counted for the May edition. The five songs that receive the most nominations will be the new entries in the May edition.

  • Vote in the Chat Charts poll

Just vote for your favourite songs in the poll. Everyone can vote for up to three songs in each edition of the Chat Charts. The same IP adress can only take part once in each edition.
Each edition of the Chat Charts will be launched on the last Tuesday of a month (with the exception of this launch edition).
The five songs that collected the least votes in the previous Chat Charts edition will drop out to make place for five new entries (based on the song submissions as described above). The last Chat Charts edition of 2014 will be launched at the end of November.
The poll for each Chat Charts edition will close on the Monday before the last Tuesday of each month (except for the December poll, which will close on the Monday before the Chat Awards – see below).
In the case of a tie affecting the drop-out places, a tie-break vote will be held in the #esc chatroom.
The results of each Chat Charts edition will be revealed when the next month’s Chat Charts are launched, i.e. on the last Tuesday of each month.

The cumulative results of the Chat Charts 2014 will again be revealed in the Chat Awards (the preliminary date for the Chat Awards 2014 is Sunday 28 December). The song with the best overall positions in the Chat Charts will receive the award for “Song of the Season 2014”, succeeding Adelén’s dancefloor hit “Bombo” (see all Chat Awards 2013 results here).
