Tonight marks the official start of the “on-season” as the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia selects its entry for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest.
It may still be November 2014, but broadcaster MRT is getting a head start on the competition by using the 2014 edition of the long-standing Skopje Festival event as the preselection to find the song it will send to Vienna next May, like it has done numerous times in past years.
A total of 20 songs will fight for the chance to represent the Balkan nation. Participants include several familiar faces from past Macedonian finals – most notably Tamara Todevska, whose “Let Me Love You” was the country’s entry to the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade, narrowly missing out on qualification to the grand final.
Macedonia has a patchy recent record at the Eurovision Song Contest, having only reached the Saturday night show once in the last seven years. Last year, Tamara’s sister Tijana finished 13th in her semi-final with “To The Sky”.
You can find all the details of the Macedonian final on the right-hand side. Further down, you can toggle between “Today” and “Calendar” view.
Don’t forget to join us in the #esc chat, where we’ll be watching, talking about and voting on the show – the scores given to each song by our chatters will be more important than ever this year (but more about that soon!).
