Amber to represent Malta at ESC 2015

Amber will represent Malta at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Warrior”!

In tonight’s national final, held at the same Malta Shipbuilding venue as last weekend’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest – and, indeed, using the same stage, the same theme song and the same interval acts – Amber took a clear and comfortable victory ahead of second-placed Christabelle (“Rush”). Of course, it should be noted that broadcaster PBS reserves the right to change the winning song if it wants to!

The voting was split between international jurors and the local televote. However, there was fundamental agreement at the important end of the scoreboard, with Amber getting all the 12 points from televoters and jurors alike.

Over in the #esc chat, our favourite was Christabelle, who scored an impressive average of 7.68 out of 10 from our voters. Jessika and Karen DeBattista occupied the other podium positions, with the actual winner Amber finishing 5th in our vote. Meanwhile, the Ekklesia Sisters were ranked dead last with an average score of just 1.29.

In the grand final of the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest, “Coming Home” by Firelight ended up in 23rd place. Will Malta do better in 2015 with Amber? See what you think:
