The Czech Republic returns to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015 as the contest itself returns to their doorstep, and it seems as if broadcaster Česká televize is making a real effort to turn around the country’s previously dismal fortunes in the competition.
The 2015 Czech entry will be a duet between Marta Jandová & Václav Noid Bárta entitled “Hope Never Dies”. Marta in particular is known to an international (and especially German-speaking) audience as the lead singer of the band Die Happy for many years. She has also been the featured vocalist on big hits by the German bands Oomph! and Revolverheld and the well-known Finnish instrumental group Apocalpytica.
“Hope Never Dies” was selected in an internal procedure, with one internal jury member praising the song for its “peculiar and nice chorus, along with some nice and surprising modulation”!
It remains to be seen what this will mean in reality, but in any case, we should be able to look forward to a well-performed Czech entry when Marta and Václav take to the stage in the first half of the second semi-final on Thursday 21 May.
