Giannis Karagiannis will represent Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song “One Thing I Should Have Done”.
In the final, six entries competed to win the ticket to Vienna. Beforehand, a marathon process of auditions and live shows lasting several weeks had been held to narrow down the songs from sixty to just the six finalists. The ultimate winner actually won neither the televote nor the jury vote in Saturday night’s final, but with considerable disagreement between the two halves of the 50/50 vote, placing 2nd in both was sufficient for an overall victory.
Giannis Karagiannis is a singer/songwriter from Limassol who has won several talent contests in his home country. The Cypriot entry for ESC 2015 is co-written by the singer and British Cypriot composer and producer Mike Connaris, best known to fans of the contest for writing “Stronger Every Minute” by Lisa Andreas, whose 5th-place finish in 2004 remains the Mediterranean island’s joint-best result in its Eurovision history to date.
In Vienna, Cyprus will compete in the second half of the second semi-final. You can see the winning reprise from the national final below.
