Aminata to represent Latvia in Vienna!

by | Feb 22, 2015 | Uncategorized

Aminata and her song “Love Injected” have won the grand final of Supernova, the Latvian preselection for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna!

Following two heats and a semi-final, tonight’s final show featured just four entries in competition for the prized ticket to Vienna. It was widely anticipated that there would be a two-song superfinal, but in the end it was a 100% televoting shoot-out between the four finalists – a fight that Aminata, already the televoting favourite in the semi-final last Sunday, won by some distance. Second place was taken by Markus Riva with “Take Me Down”, followed by ElektroFolk in third and MNTHA in fourth.

Of course, the real hero of the night – and, indeed, the last few weeks of Latvian shows – was Rigas Bebrs, the dancing beaver who has been keeping us entertained throughout the advertising breaks. Here at escgo!, we sincerely hope that the image below is an indication of how Latvia intends to stage its entry in Vienna:

“Love Injected” was also our favourite in the #esc chat, achieving an impressive average score of 8.06 out of 10. In Vienna, Aminata will appear in the second half of the second semi-final on Thursday 21 May. You can see her performance from tonight’s show (with added backing vocals!) below:
