Although it promises to be less chaotic than last week’s “Super Saturday”, today is nevertheless a busy and varied day for ESC fans to follow, with three very different types of preselection show taking place!
Portugal reaches the final of Festival da Canção following two semi-finals on Tuesday and Thursday earlier this week. As in the semi-finals, six songs will compete in tonight’s final. Three superfinalists will be chosen – two by the televoters and one by the jury – before the overall winner is deermined by 100% televoting.
There has been less speculation about the United Kingdom entry than usual, with expectations possibly being lowered by the choice of an unknown artist last year in contrast to the famous (if older) faces from the years prior to that. The BBC is again selecting a song and performer internally this year and will present its choice tonight via its interactive “red button” service and online. The entry is scheduled to go live after the end of tonight’s episode of The Voice on BBC1, so at around 22:30 CET.
Finally, the Melodifestivalen format in Sweden reaches one of its highlights: the Andra Chansen or “second chance” round. In a fundamental change to the previous years, tonight there will be four duels between the eight remaining entries, with each of the duel winners qualifying directly for next Saturday’s grand final.
You can find the details of tonight’s shows on the right-hand side. Further down, you can toggle between “Today” and “Calendar” view.

Tonight’s songs will also compete to qualify for our own SongHunt. The scores given to each song by our chatters will have an influence on which songs will qualify for the next heat, to be launched on Sunday.
