Polina Gagarina will represent Russia at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “A Million Voices”.
27-year-old Gagarina had been all but confirmed as the Russian singer several days ago, but the identity of the song was still unknown. Some sites chose to run with the fairly implausible claim that the entry would be entitled “Secret Poison” – somewhere out there in the ether, a trouble-making ESC fan is giggling behind his or her hands about that one! – but the truth is rather more mundane.
The full song has yet to be released, but you can see a clip of “A Million Voices” in this news report.
“A Million Voices” has an international team behind it, being written by Gabriel Alares, Joakim Björnberg, Leonid Gutkin, Vladimir Matetsky and Katrina Noorbergen. Some of them were also responsible for Russia’s successful 2013 entry “What If”, a thematically similar peace ballad, and the country will be looking to achieve yet another top 10 placing at ESC 2015 – but first they will have to negotiate the semi-final stage in Vienna, where they are drawn in the second half of the first semi-final on Tuesday 19 May.
