Rīgas Bebrs to join Aminata on stage in Vienna!

by | Apr 1, 2015 | Uncategorized

The article below was published on April 1st. That’s all we’re saying.

It’s been the dream of many Eurovision fans, and now it’s coming true – Rīgas Bebrs, the man-sized beaver who entertained and enthralled us all during the broadcasts of the Latvian preselection Supernova earlier this spring, will be on stage as part of the Latvian entry at ESC 2015 in Vienna!

Having realised that the visual aspect of their entry is lacking, the team behind Aminata’s “Love Injected” announced today that the heroic beaver – already the subject of a campaign to make him a European cultural symbol – will provide “an interpretive dance accompaniment to help illustrate the important message of the song”, as spokeswoman Avril Poisson described it.

Poisson added: “In an interesting coincidence, ‘Savadogo’, Aminata’s surname, is a Burkinabé slang term for ‘beaver’. So basically fate has decided this for us and we have no choice in the matter.”

escgo! tried to reach Rīgas Bebrs for a comment this morning, but he was unavailable due to having to sign autographs at a shopping centre in Ventspils. In the meantime, you can relive some of his finest moments from Supernova below:
