For the second time – the first being in 2008 – Portugal will be represented at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest by a dramatic ballad penned by the songwriting team of Andrej Babić and Carlos Coelho.
It was a fairly unanimous verdict in Lisbon on Saturday night, with juries and televoters alike agreeing that “Vida minha” by Filipa Sousa was their favourite.
Filipa will now go forward to the first half of the second semi-final in Baku on Thursday 24 May in the hope of recapturing Portugal’s impressive recent qualification record following their failure last year.
