Eleni Foureira reveals her “Fuego” for Cyprus
Cyprus has presented its entry for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest, “Fuego” by Eleni Foureira. The song and singer combination had been known for some time, but the entry was not officially released to the public until the music video was featured in this evening’s television news broadcast.
Born in Albania in 1987 – her birth name is Entela Fureraj – Foureira moved to Greece with her family when she was young. Her career has been characterised by a series of fun trash-pop performances in the best possible sense of the phrase, and “Fuego” promises to be no exception. This year’s Euroclub DJs will be happy with its addition to the line-up, if nothing else!
Cyprus has qualified from its semi-final in the last three contests and will be hoping to keep that streak going when “Fuego” competes in the second half of the first semi-final on Tuesday 8 May.
