Presenting the winners of the #esc and escgo! Chat Awards for 2017!

As a pre-Christmas treat, this year we held our annual Chat Awards ceremony in the 90 minutes immediately preceding the final of Festivali i Këngës, the Albanian preselection for ESC 2018.

The timing was ideal: what better way to welcome in the first entry of the new season than by reviewing and voting on our favourites from the past year from the nominees chosen by our chatters?

The winners of the individual live polls were:

• Best official preview video for an ESC 2017 song: Belgium (“City Lights”)

• Best solo artist at ESC 2017: Salvador Sobral (Portugal)

• Best band or other non-solo artist at ESC 2017: Naviband (Belarus)

• Best song at ESC 2017: Belgium (“City Lights”)
  [also nominated: Italy, Finland, Portugal]
• Best national final of the 2017 season: Romania
  [also nominated: United Kingdom, Slovenia, Portugal, Sweden, Spain]
• Hottest person at ESC 2017 or in a national final: IMRI

• #esc cult of the year: Maltese public singing “Breathlessly”

We also reconfirmed “Petale” by Instinct as our favourite non-winning national final song of the season following its victory in the 2017 edition of SongHunt earlier in the year.
