Austria is the winner of the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest, gaining a clear victory with the arty black-and-white staging of “Wasted Love” by JJ.

The full results of the grand final were as follows:

Although we freely admitted to feeling clueless, our team’s predictions were further away from the reality than usual. We did say it was a strange year! That said, all of us had Austria on our radar as a potential winner, and the other podium-fillers Israel and Estonia got mentions too.

The massive differences between the juries and the public vote, and the way in which that public vote continues to be successfully instrumentalised, are once again high on the agenda and will give the EBU headaches in the weeks and months ahead. While we all have our opinions on that, fortunately the only headache we have right now is from a very late night and the consumption of a little too much cheese.

More analysis of the results and the event itself may follow, depending on when and whether inspiration strikes. And either way, the off-season begins now! Enjoy the break, and we’ll see what happens next in these interesting times for the contest… it’d be nice if life could be a little less interesting sometimes, wouldn’t it?

Let’s end with a reprise of 2025’s winning song, as it should be. Congratulations to Austria!
