Azerbaijan picks Farid Mammadov

by | Mar 14, 2013 | Uncategorized

Last year’s host country Azerbaijan held their national final tonight, which saw Farid Mammadov (or Mamedov, depending on your preference) as the lucky one of the 10 finalists.

Farid, who also won our voting in the #esc chatroom (5.8 points average), will perform the song “Hold Me” in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö. The same voting in our community rated Farah Hadiyeva’s song “We Are One” with a disastrous score of 0.25 points, which is one of the worst results of the season – probably only beaten by a song in the Ukrainian Final which managed to get a 0.00.

Azerbaijan will perform in the first half of the second semi-final on May 16th, and the country will be looking to maintain its unbroken record of top 10 placings at ESC.
