Mélanie René will represent Switzerland at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Time To Shine”.
In last night’s Große Entscheidungsshow national final, held as usual in the border town of Kreuzlingen, she beat off the challenge of the five other finalists to get the combined approval of the expert jury and public televote.
The show also featured all six participants performing cover versions of popular songs from artists as diverse as Meghan Trainor and Frankie Goes To Hollywood – as well the near-obligatory appearance from reigning Eurovision champion Conchita Wurst.
“Shine” has become a popular lyrical theme in the recent years of ESC, and Mélanie will be hoping that her result is more Tolmachevy Sisters than Natália Kelly when she appears in the second half of the second semi-final on Thursday 21 May. See what you think of the song below!
