Melodifestivalen 2013: Our Thursday

(This article will be updated throughout the day)

And that’s it for today, as I’ll now head off to “Torget”!

Three more things:

1. If you’re attending MF in the Arena, make sure you get your lyrics of “Främling” right.
2. If you’re sitting right by the stage, it’s gonna be hot during Melodi Nummer 6.
3. If you’re sitting anywhere near the stage, you won’t leave the arena again without a piece of glitter somewhere on or in your clothes.

Dress Rehearsal tomorrow night – as usual, we’ll be blogging this one live, and also commenting on it in the #esc chat!

So, back at the hotel, soon getting ready for the social / fun part of the day! But first, more pictures from Sean Banan, Robin Stjernberg and Yohio!

Sean Banan

…. and also the one who blew away all this glitter again… the Glitterfighter.

Now there’s glitter all over me, and my computer, and all the other press people around me. Conclusion: Sean Banan was rehearsing.
Time to add some photos from today’s rehearsals!
First on stage were Ravaillacz, apparently because they had to attend another rehearsal this afternoon.
Missed most of it, because I originally didn’t plan to do photos from the rehearsal, but well, here we go!
Next in the rehearsal was Ulrik Munther:
..and unfortunately that’s the only picture of him that I have.
I couldn’t make it to most of the rehearsals of David Lindgren and State of Drama, and of the latter I couldn’t even catch an acceptable “impression”, but – even if it’s shaky – thought this one of David has something (before the higher quality photos come in the next post!).

Hej everyone! I have just arrived safe and sound in a chilly but very sunny Stockholm! I left home at 5am and had to fly via London City Airport, as sadly there are no direct flights on a Thursday from Scotland. Dedicated as always! I got the train from Arlanda to Stockholm, and as luck would have it, Solna, where the Friends Arena is situated, was on the way, so I jumped off the train, dragging my suitcase with me! The transport links here are not as good as Globen – the train station is about 12 minutes walk away but the entrance closest to the arena is closed, so it means an even further walk, but in this nice weather, it’s not too much of a problem!

Friends Arena is very impressive, at least what is finished so far – as Felix mentioned, half of it is still under construction at the moment, and when it is finished, it will look great.

The inside of the arena looks really good on screen, and I am sure on Saturday night, with 27,000 people or so inside, it’s going to be a great atmosphere. The press room isn’t huge though, it’s about half full at the moment, and I’m sure by the time Saturday comes it will be difficult to find a seat, so I’ll make sure Felix gets here early! At least there is plenty of free coffee and cakes!

I have a ticket for the show itself on Saturday night, so Felix will be blogging his comments for the live show from the press room, but I will be here tomorrow night blogging the dress rehearsal as it happens, so make sure you visit us then to hear all the latest gossip.

I’m going to head back to my hotel shortly to check in and have a disco nap. Some of our other friends from the chat have already arrived, and Felix and I will be catching up with them later. Stay tuned for some video interviews that Felix managed to get with some of the performers, and I will blog more soon!

Just returning from the interviews… soon on our site: Videos with David Lindgren, Anton Ewald, Ralf Gyllenhammar and Robin Stjernberg. Also take a look at the fresh photos on the right-hand side!

The Thursday has arrived in Stockholm, and while I wait for my fellow editor Danny to arrive as well, I’m going to tell those of you who are planning to be in Stockholm too in the next days a bit about the weather.

Hötorget, 10:23:

It’s very sunny, the city centre is mostly free of snow and ice, which is nice for a change around this time of the year. However, in Solna, where Friends Arena is located, it looks more like this:

So be sure to bring some good enough shoes to get over this:

… and finally, the more construction sites you spot, the closer you must be to Friends Arena.

See you soon for more, now off to the hall!
