Estonian broadcaster ERR has announced the dates for Eesti Laul 2015, the selection format that will determine the next Eurovision entrant from the Baltic country. The event will be held in three televised shows on the following dates:
Saturday, 7 February: Semi-final 1
Saturday, 14 February: Semi-final 2
Saturday, 21 February: Final
Each semi-final will feature 10 songs, of which the 5 most popular will proceed. In the final, these qualifiers will compete for a spot in the superfinal, which now will consist of three songs instead of two as in previous years.
In our experience, a superfinal of three entrants is less likely to produce votes against a specific entry, thereby increasing the chance of an unusual Eurovision entry being selected.
At ESC 2014 in Copenhagen, Estonia’s Tanja and her song Amazing failed to reach the grand final.
