The Icelandic entry for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest will be “Unbroken” by María Ólafsdóttir!
The song, which was performed in the semi-final of the Icelandic selection Söngvakeppnin Sjónvarpsins as “Lítil skref” before being translated into English for tonight’s final, beat off the challenge of the other superfinalist, “Once Again” by Friðrik Dór, in a televoting-only final round. The two songs had previously been selected from the field of seven by a mixture of televoting and an expert jury vote.
“Unbroken” was the third favourite among the chatters in our #esc chatroom tonight, with an average score of 7.14 points out of 10 – we preferred “Dance Slow” (7.33) and especially “Feathers” (7.63). Those scores mean the songs should have a good chance of appearing in Heat 7 of our SongHunt competition when it’s launched tomorrow night. You can still vote in Heat 6 here!
At ESC 2015, Iceland will perform in the second half of the second semi-final on Thursday 21 May.
