(updated 25 May)
Måns Zelmerlöw from Sweden has won the 60th Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Heroes“, just three years after the country’s most recent victory.
The winner scored a total of 365 points, followed by Russia on 2nd place (303) and Italy (291).
This year was a huge success for Belgium and Latvia. Loïc Nottet from Belgium came 4th, which is the country’s best place since 2003, and the 2nd best place since their victory in 1986. Latvia’s hopeful Aminata came 6th, achieved their first qualification since 2008, the best place since 2005, and the 2nd best place since Latvia’s victory in 2002.
Australia, which participated for the first time (and allegedly as a one-off, which we don’t believe), ended up on a good 5th place.
Host country Austria and neighbouring Germany ended up with zero points, each.
ChatVote winner Slovenia came 15th, runner-up Norway 8th, and 3rd placed Estonia 7th.
